Private Address exists as a security feature in order to decrease the ability for other people to track your device based on your MAC address. Because of the way that CadetNet is set up, every group of rooms is segmented with its own access point, which means that somebody would have to be within about 30 feet of your device in order to identify its location.
Additionally, CadetNet maintains all MAC addresses in an encrypted database which is only accessible internally. There is no significant security risk associated with disabling the Private Address setting on a trusted network - knowledge of a device's MAC address does not enable any additional attack vectors.
